A suitable transfer press is essential
A suitable heat press is essential for successfully processing DTF transfers. When purchasing a heat press, there are several factors to consider:
Press surface: Make sure the press surface is large enough to handle the largest print you expect to create. A surface that is too small can result in incomplete transfers.
Operation: Consider ease of use. For large quantities of transfers, an electric or pneumatic press can significantly simplify and speed up the process.
Versatility: A press with an interchangeable platen offers greater flexibility for printing in hard-to-reach areas, such as next to zippers or buttons.
Some heat presses come with optional smaller platens. These smaller platens offer several advantages. They are perfect for applying small prints in specific areas, giving you more freedom in your designs. Even with detailed transfers, smaller platens ensure everything stays precisely in place. They are also essential when working with certain materials that require a smaller platen.
A loose powder shaker
If the print runs are large enough for a DTF printer but not yet for an automatic powder machine, you can apply the powder to the prints manually. This works, but a separate powder shaker, such as the DTF Station Seismo S20 Powder Station, is more convenient.
You can insert the print into this, and it can be quickly and efficiently applied with the correct amount of powder.
Improved washability with T.Seal
After a DTF print has been transferred to the textile with the heat press, you can re-press the print to further integrate it into the textile fibers. This is most effective with TheMagicTouch T.Seal. The special layer on this re-press sheet ensures that the DTF is melted around the textile fibers during the re-pressing process. This makes the print feel even thinner and more flexible.

Filters with the DTF Oven
When using a DTF oven to fix the DTF powder to the DTF film, good ventilation is essential. Don’t forget to replace the filters for your DTF oven/exhaust system regularly. For example, we have replacement filters for the DTF Phoenix Air ovens on our website. It’s helpful to always have these in stock.
